Enrol or Login

What Is MASS?

MASS is the multi-operator self-exclusion scheme for participating Motorway Service Area (MSA) Adult Gaming Centres in Great Britain.

One registration allows you to exclude yourself from selected Motorway AGCs, helping you take a break from gambling in motorway environments.

The scheme is:

  • Free to use
  • Confidential
  • Designed to support harm prevention
  • Recognised by participating licensed operators

How It Works

1. Choose Your Coverage
Select your Main MSA and how widely you want to exclude:
  • Single site, Brand, All motorway venues or a radius around your chosen MSA
2. Register
Apply online or in person.
You’ll need:
  • A recent photo
  • Photo ID (for online enrolment)
3. Your Exclusion Starts
Your exclusion begins once you register and will last for your selected period.

Your Responsibility

MASS is a voluntary harm-prevention measure.

By enrolling, you agree not to enter gambling areas within venues covered by your exclusion.

Participating operators will take reasonable steps to support your exclusion, but prevention of entry cannot be guaranteed.

Duration of Exclusion

  • Minimum exclusion: 6 months
  • Optional extension: up to 12 months
  • Thinking Period: 6 months following completion of your minimum period
    • During the Thinking Period, you may:
      • Request reinstatement
      • Renew your exclusion
      • Extend your exclusion
If no action is taken, your exclusion will automatically expire at the end of the Thinking Period.

Reinstatement

If you wish to return after your minimum Exclusion Period:
  • You must request reinstatement in person at a participating venue during the thinking period.
  • A 24-hour cooling-off period applies
During this 24-hour period, you may reverse your decision and extend or renew your exclusion.

What Happens If You Breach Your Exclusion?

If you enter a gambling area while your exclusion is active:
  • You may be refused entry
  • You may be asked to leave
  • Stakes and winnings may be forfeited
  • Gambling losses will not be reimbursed
Repeated breaches may result in additional restrictions.

How MASS Is Enforced

Participating operators may use:
  • Photographic identification
  • Staff training and monitoring
  • Facial recognition technology
  • Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems
These measures are used solely to support self-exclusion, prevent gambling-related harm and meet regulatory obligations.

Data Protection

Some information processed under MASS may constitute special category personal data under UK data protection law.
Your information will be handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the MASS Privacy Policy.
Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.
